Ink Painting Experience

Mio’s Ink Painting Experience

Mio decided to try Sumi-e, a traditional Japanese ink painting, so she visited a local art studio. As she stepped inside, she was greeted by a serene space with various ink paintings displayed on the walls.

The instructor, Keiko, an experienced painter, began teaching Mio the basics of ink painting. “Ink painting uses only shades of black ink to express the beauty of nature. It’s simple but has deep layers,” Keiko explained.

First, Mio learned how to hold the brush and how to dilute the ink. She made her first stroke on the white paper. The way the ink spread seemed like magic, captivating her from the start.

Keiko suggested that Mio use landscapes as her subject. As Mio imagined mountains, water, and skies, she moved her brush. Every brushstroke was crucial, each line filled with meaning.

As she continued, Mio felt her emotions blending with the flow of the ink. She immersed herself in the world of ink painting, drifting away from the noise of the outside world.

The piece Mio completed was simple yet powerful. Through ink painting, she discovered a new form of expression and expanded her artistic voice.
