Course Overview

There are many trekking courses on Mount Norikura, but a recommended route is from Tatamidaira to Kengamine. This route is about 3.5 kilometers long and takes about 2-3 hours.

Highlights

  1. Tatamidaira: Tatamidaira is located at an altitude of 2,702 meters and is the main starting point for Mount Norikura. From here, you can enjoy beautiful mountain scenery.
  2. Maou-dake: On the way from Tatamidaira to Kengamine, you can stop by Maou-dake. It’s a relatively short hike with great views.
  3. Kengamine: The highest peak of Mount Norikura, Kengamine, stands at 3,026 meters. The summit offers a 360-degree panoramic view, and on clear days, you can see distant mountains.

Access

You can reach Mount Norikura by bus from Matsumoto Station in about 1.5 hours. If you’re driving, it’s about 1 hour from the Matsumoto IC on the Joshin-Etsu Expressway.
