Course Overview

A popular section is the route from Magome-juku to Tsumago-juku, approximately 8 kilometers long. This route is well-maintained and suitable for beginners, taking about 2-3 hours to walk​.

  1. Magome-juku: Start your trek in the beautiful post town of Magome, known for its cobblestone streets and traditional wooden buildings.
  2. Tsumago-juku: Tsumago is another well-preserved post town with charming old buildings and shops, welcoming you at the end of your trek.
  3. Odaki and Medaki Waterfalls: Along the way, you can enjoy the scenic Odaki (male) and Medaki (female) waterfalls, perfect for a refreshing break​.

Access

To access the Nakasendo, take a train from Nagoya to Nakatsugawa Station, then a bus to Magome. From Tsumago, you can take a bus and train back to Nagoya or Matsumoto​.
