Mio’s next journey took her to Murata Town, known as the “Little Kyoto” of Miyagi Prefecture. This town is famous for its historical buildings and charming streets.

Upon arriving in Murata, Mio first explored the old town area. The white-walled storehouses and stone-paved streets made her feel as if she had stepped back in time. She visited historical buildings and learned about the town’s history and culture.

Next, Mio visited the Murata History Future Museum (Murata Machi Rekishi Mirai Kan). This museum showcases the history and future of Murata Town. She was fascinated by the displays about the lives and trades of merchants from the Edo to Meiji periods, and she also learned about local traditional crafts and culture.

Mio then visited Murata Hachiman Shrine, a place with a long history and a peaceful atmosphere. The beautiful shrine buildings and tranquil grounds gave her a sense of the local people’s faith and traditions.

Additionally, Mio learned about the town’s traditional festivals and events. She found out that every autumn, there are events where many locals and tourists come together to celebrate the town’s history and culture.

Throughout her visit, Mio was touched by the history, culture, and warmth of the people in Murata Town. The town’s rich heritage and beautiful scenery left a lasting impression on her. This journey deepened her understanding of Japan’s history and culture, inspiring her future artistic projects.
