Upon arriving in Hirosaki, Mio first visited Hirosaki Castle. The castle is renowned for its cherry blossoms in spring, and Mio enjoyed walking through its lovely gardens and moats. Built in the Edo period, the castle’s architecture and surroundings showcase the elegance of that time. The view from the castle tower was breathtaking, with the natural landscape perfectly complementing the historic structure.
Next, Mio explored the area of old samurai residences in Hirosaki. This district preserves the lifestyle of samurai from the Edo period, with well-maintained houses. She visited the former Iwata family residence and learned about the customs and daily life of the samurai era.
Mio also participated in the traditional Neputa Festival, held every summer. This lively event features giant illuminated floats paraded through the streets. Mio was impressed by the vibrant atmosphere and the community’s enthusiasm, experiencing the local culture firsthand.
Additionally, Mio visited Hirosaki Park. The park boasts beautiful gardens and historical buildings, offering picturesque views throughout the seasons. During the autumn, the park is especially stunning with its vibrant fall colors.
